Book 12 Chapter 10
Side Story Part 2, Episode 5
“Nen, how about a fire festival? I’ll just burn the world even hotter than a blazing inferno.”
“A fire festival!”
“If you don’t like that, how about some water play? I could just submerge the world in water.”
“Submerging the homes of innocent people isn’t just!”
“Nen, for someone like me, that kind of control is a piece of cake. In fact, eating rice cakes while lying down is harder.”
“Eating food while lying down is bad (惡) for the boss! You’ll get a stomach ache!”
“A stomach ache like that, with magic── Ugh!”
Just then, as Nen’s eyes sparkled brightly, a furious punch landed right on Rein’s head!
“What fire festival and water play? You even cast illusion magic on us to hide our identities! Only acquaintances can recognize us!”
“I’m sorry…”
“You’re way too excited! What if you only teach bad things?”
How could I not be excited then?
Nen’s horns had sprouted, you see.
Nen had finally entered the gateway to becoming an adult dragon. Although it was quite a bit later than Akki and Mir, it was okay.
Nen’s journey was just beginning. Therefore, as I looked at Nen, I started to smile again.
Nen didn’t know the reason for the smile, but just laughed along. Then Miria sighed.
“There’s no stopping you. Of course, I’m not unhappy about Nen’s growth either. But where’s the need to make such a grand fuss?”
“No, I need to be able to express the magnitude of my joy.”
“Cut it out. Unless you want to get hit again.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“We need to think a bit strategically. We’re opening soon, aren’t we? How about giving free bread to the first 100 customers?”
“Hmph, just 100 people?”
“Do you want to get hit 100 times?”
“No.”
Why do all women in the world become violent after marriage? I feel the need to write a thesis.
“If they ask why we’re giving it away for free then, you can just say it’s because we’re happy Nen has grown so well. That’ll promote the shop, and the people eating the free bread will also be happy about Nen’s growth. Since they’re getting it for free, after all.”
Even so, shouldn’t we at least have a fire festival that turns night into day for three days…?
I didn’t say that.
Because when I get hit by that fist that wields the Supreme Holy Sword Shirpang, that absurdly heavy holy sword, it really hurts enough to bring tears to my eyes…
“How about it, Nen?”
“Are you happy about Nen’s growth?”
“Of course.”
A faint look of concern spread across Nen’s sparkling face.
“What about Akki unnie and Mir?”
Then Miria pointed to the stack of envelopes piled up like a mountain on the table.
“Rein already stayed up all night and wrote all the letters.”
“Letters?!”
“That one’s for Akki, this one’s going to Mir. This one’s going to the Steel Continent branch where Bart and Rem are. This one’s for Father and Mother. Hmm, how impressive, this one’s for my mom. And this one for Elder Yosuhar… Hey! How many pages did you write, exactly?!”
“Oh, I took my time with multi-telekinesis. I wrote twenty pages at a time, so it was quick.”
Hehet, I awkwardly wiped under my nose.
If it weren’t for my wife’s nagging, I would’ve written to everyone in the whole world.
You guys, never get married…
“You just had an impudent thought, didn’t you?”
“Huh? No, I didn’t.”
“No, no, I’m sure you did. If not, why did you use honorifics just now? Doesn’t that mean you’ve got something to hide?”
This is crazy!
Could it be that the ability to read minds has awakened in someone who should absolutely never have it…!
Miria approaches, ominously tapping a kitchen knife.
“That chilling aura rising from the blade, surely it’s not Sword Qi, is it?”
In that moment of crisis, Nen, who was looking down at the letters for Akki and Mir, spoke.
“Can Nen write letters to Akki unnie and Mir?”
