Book 12 Chapter 6
Side Story, Part 2, Chapter 3
“What is this?”
Christa Warden stared at the paper extended onto the table as if she had never seen one in her life, then raised her head.
“It’s a resignation letter, Your Majesty the Emp—”
“—Call me Leader.”
“It’s a resignation letter, Leader.”
Then Christa Warden grinned, as if satisfied.
‘This consistently troublesome fellow…!’
The position of Leader of the Magic Alliance seemed to have been Christa Warden’s long-cherished dream.
Now that she had achieved it, hearing the title ‘Leader’ made her happier than anyone.
Perhaps because she always liked to compete with Lein, she seemed to have worked tirelessly to secure this position, the only one comparable to the Magic Lord.
The Leader’s term is a maximum of 15 years, and on average ends in 10 years.
Christa tapped the paper with her finger.
“I know that! But what’s with the resignation letter? Suddenly? Surely, you, the Great Sage of the world, aren’t protesting that you can’t work under a Great Archmage.”
“That’s right. Do you have a conscience?”
“?”
“Just kidding. Something I want to do has come up, putting everything down for a while. Then, I wish you well with your duties, Leader.”
Turning around, just as she placed her hand on the doorknob and was about to turn it, a serious question caught her shoulder.
“Someone of your caliber, so resolute… What on earth is going on? Can I ask?”
As she gave that answer, Miria’s voice, which she had heard in the past, overlapped onto that sound.
“I’m thinking of opening a bread shop.”
Miria had said.
The location, yes, the city around that Twilight Flower field would be good.
—So we can go out for a stroll together on leisurely days.
Also, I don’t like overly large, bustling cities. A suitable small city is good.
—I don’t like shops that only specialize in pastry desserts.
Because only the wealthy or noble would come.
—I want to create a space where everyone living in this world can come comfortably, stay comfortably, and leave comfortably.
Because it was an impossible dream, I had forgotten everything and was living in resignation, but seeing Nen, that dream resurfaced.
“Bread? A bakery? Why a bakery of all the many things to do? And that, by Yonghyun, the former Magic Lord and one of the Three Great Sages?”
As she gave the answer to that question.
Without realizing it…
Perhaps inevitably…
The smile Miria had that day was perfectly replicated on Lein’s lips.
“Because I want to teach Nen about the human heart.”
