Now, only three incidents remained until the prologue of my life concluded.

In chronological order, the first incident felt dirty, the second was passable, and the third became a turning point in my life.

The first incident occurred during the [Four-Star Selection]'s Northern Representative Deciding Match.

My opponent was Ken Selman.

He was the young master of the Selman family, masters of poison magic, and he passed the first preliminary round of the [Four-Star Selection] with bizarre poison magic that hardened the earth and evaporated water.

I felt a great deal of interest.

At this level, it seemed he would serve as an excellent punching bag for my combat magic.

More than anything, his understanding of poison magic was quite high, so it seemed there was much to learn from him by observing.

The regional representative selection was combat magic.

The two people who passed the first preliminary round would exchange offense and defense with magic.

Of course, it was said that it was fine even if one had no talent for combat.

The important scoring point was whether one could use magic appropriately for the situation.

“Osarius School?”

What's important in combat magic is, naturally, composure.

Whether he tried to break that composure, or if he had lived his entire life full of himself, the bastard fearlessly poked my inverse scale.

“What's that? A school with such a trashy name? Seeing as the dean doesn't even have a name, he must be some good-for-nothing trash magician, right?”

Insulting me didn't really matter. If that had been the case, I would have thought, "What a trivial provocation," and let it go.

But this was different.

“You insignificant commoner, what did you just say to me?”

For the sin of insulting the dean who took me in when I had nothing, he deserved to die a hundred times.

“You ran your mouth because you're confident you can beat me, you son of a bitch.”
