Book 15 Chapter 26

Episode 62

Friede infiltrated the underground space. It was convenient because the delinquents let them into the underground without any suspicion.

‘The Academic City is called a holy land of archaeology. I did hear that underground exploration was actively taking place in the area, but… this massive, right beneath the city?’

No matter how she looked at it, it was clearly a recently created space.

The fact that construction of this scale was completed in such a short period must be evidence that the [King's Flesh] is involved.

“Workers, forward!”

“Forward!”

“You, who have neither talent for studying nor know how to work hard, are the trash of society! Be grateful that you can at least work like this!”

“Yes, sir!”

“Each of you, take a pickaxe and a shovel, and move to your work section!”

With a rudimentary illusion spell conjured from cigarette smoke, Friede, having separated from the line of workers, hid herself in a corner.

“Hmm, even at a glance, something smells fishy.”

“Stinky, stinky, the smell is too foul.”

More than a dozen passages spiraled down deep into the underground.

Summoning a broom, Friede exited through a passage's ventilation shaft and discovered a colossal stele that had surged up from the deepest part of the underground all the way to this point.

What was malevolently embossed on the stele's surface was… something grotesquely mixed, human and raven. It was something created not by the providence of this world, but by the chaos of the universe.

‘What is this?’

Friede could feel a fear etched into her genes, manifesting as a chill.

As a priestess of the Republic, Friede was not only fluent in Dragonic but also a master of interpreting the ancient abyssal language, known as the Monstrous Tongue.

As Friede meticulously read the inscription, deep wrinkles began to form across her face.

‘Just what kind of madness are they planning to unleash with this…?’

It was then. The stele began to shake violently, and the inscriptions carved onto its surface started to ooze a dark blue abyss, as if bleeding.
