Book 15 Chapter 50
Episode 74
Between the Blade Peninsula and the southern part of the Akrad Continent lies a sea called the White Sea (白海).
It was literally a white sea. The water currents of the waves were calm and serene, just like a lake.
Perhaps because the seawater was pure white, it was fascinating that the seafood growing in that sea also had a white hue.
That light resembled snow (雪).
Would snow have accumulated softly around the Osarius Magic Tower by now? Or would the earth tones be highlighted in brown due to the aftermath of a corrupted summer? It was impossible to know.
“What is that?”
Today's pathetic story began at the moment an ancient excavation facility was discovered in the middle of that pure white sea.
“What are you doing here?”
Rista asked.
The general manager of the excavation site saluted politely and answered.
“As you know, this is one of the battlefields of the mythical era. The shipwreck (難破船) of the <The Comers> fleet has been confirmed to be submerged at the bottom of the sea, and we are attempting to salvage it, but….”
“Is there a problem?”
“Some unidentified magical beast keeps interfering with the salvage. We’ve been practically drifting here for a month.”
People in distress…!
Rista clasped her hands tightly and looked back at her party members with expectant eyes.
Friede exhaled cigarette smoke as if sighing.
“Rista, you know? We're in a hurry. A more important battle awaits.”
“Busy, busy, busy, important battle.”
“But if it's the shipwreck of <The Comers>, is there anything good inside?”
To Lynn's question, the general manager hummed, stroked his chin, and replied.
“If we're lucky, an artifact might be discovered. There's a saying that if you find a usable artifact, you can live a life of leisure for 100 years.”
Friede suddenly went and stood next to Rista. Then she glared at Lynn and Kiess with accusing eyes.
“You heartless trash! This is why guys with peppers are like this! So many people are in trouble, and instead of thinking about helping, what? You're too busy? And you call yourselves a hero party?!”
“Trash, trash, you're all trash.”
Baechangung Serwebon extended a new shoot to weave this expression, representing Kiess's will and emotions!
[(-ㅅ-)?]
Lynn directly moved her facial muscles and opened her flatfish eyes.
“What a truly trashy materialist. The fact that someone like you became a shrine maiden is proof that the Republic is falling apart.”
“Shut up! Because of whom did I lose all my property! I have to make up for it somehow, don't I?”
“Hmm, is it that much?”
“It’s bloody that much! Listen carefully, men need women, and women need men. A beautiful woman like me needs a handsome oppa who will dote on her and give her gentle pats, fitting her status. And for that, you need money.”
Rista's eyes narrowed with a look of contempt.
“Let's just go our way.”
Then Friede grabbed his trouser leg and clung on.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I actually wanted to help these people! But I was just too embarrassed to speak honestly. If we leave like this, I might lose sleep due to guilt and eventually die from insomnia.”
Rista, with tears welling up, held Friede's shoulder and hand and nodded.
“So that's how it was! I'm sorry, Friede! For not recognizing your true feelings! It's okay. You can learn to be courageous from now on!”
“Yes, yes…! But if an artifact comes out, I want to have it. With that power, I'll be able to help even more people in need.”
“Of course! If that's your purpose, Friede can have it! Use it to your heart's content!”
Lynn looked up at Kiess and sighed.
“I've felt this before, but isn't Rista a bit of a blockhead?”
Kiess responded through Baechangung.
